The other nominations for Game of 2005 included Civilisation 4 and Resident Evil 4. Civilisation 4 is a good game, but its appeal is too limited to take the award. Resident Evil 4 is another strong contender, but didn’t make it to the shortlist.
Which left Warioware Twisted! and God of War. Twisted may be a sequel, but the genius concept of turning your GBA to play the hundreds of mini-games means it’s easily the second best game this year. God of War pipped it to the post mainly because it wasn’t expected, it plays amazingly well, it almost feels familiar, it’s not a sequel, and Twisted is a bitch to play on a DS.
Next we’ll reveal the winner of the Shittest Game of 2005, and then the Review of 2005, Worst Review of 2005, and, by popular demand, the added category of Worst Review of 2004.
