Ironic Comment Of The Day

An interview linked to by videogaming247.com caught our eye today. Dan Houser, Rockstar’s co-founder and “creative VP”, had this to say:

“The intellectual property is the main asset in the company. That’s why “GTA” is still relevant 10 years later. We haven’t put one out every year. We haven’t fleeced it. And we haven’t put it on 50 different formats.”

We’d like to personally congratulate Rockstar for not being tempted to fleece GTA by putting one out every year on 50 different formats, as it must have taken a gargantuan level of restraint to settle for only releasing GTA, GTA: London, GTA 2, GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, GTA: Vice City Stories, GTA: San Andreas, GTA: San Andreas Stories, and GTA IV, on the PC, Game Boy Advance, PlayStation, Dreamcast, PS2, PSP, Xbox, Xbox 360, and PS3 in less than a decade.

We’d also like to say “well done!” in a hearty fashion for their treatment of several review outlets, as only the very finest companies pick and choose who they let in for their love-ins based on whether they’ve given them good review scores in the past. Good going, guys, and you just keep on bribing those reviewers with freebies, because it’s not like the readers will ever find out.

I think you lot are missing the main point here. Not that RAMMY managed to list the number of GTA games inaccurately, but the fact that supposedly awesome R* are only dishing the review copies out to sites and mags that practice corporate cock-stroking.

I'd say that's certainly the case. People will fight over who can give the highest score, especially with those working in triple figures...

  6. Right so it should have read Liberty City stories its still the same number of games and it seems that they put one out each year as there are 9 over 10 years

RR, wake up you cunt. The egomaniacal R* UK entourage are the single most malignant tumour in the UK games industry and this is the best you can come up with? How do you think they got Eurogamer (for instance) to correct their 'mistaken' 9.5 to 10? A crate of beer and some freebies?! FFS...
These cunts are universally despised yet they get away with their soviet-style agenda control because they have the assets that sells mags and drives page impressions. Get frozen out by Rockstar - lose readership. These are the simple facts of the matter. We all have bills to pay.

Rockstar know the game and play the specialist press with heavy-handed contempt. The sight of that ugly, gurning, fake-tanned, tatooed cunt anally irrigating the entire UK games press while they meekly grin and bear it is just too fucking depressing to behold.

So, RR - write a proper story about this or people will begin to think you're just some alienated ex staff-writing peon with as much insight as the cleaners in Quay House.

It was GameSpot who changed the score, not Eurogamer. Rockstar are cunts though, simply because they refer to themselves as 'R*'. Isn't that 'Rasterix'?
